Portrait of Genghis Khan

A portrait of Genghis Khan has been discovered in a temple located in Northern China. The portrait has been dated during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is painted on a cloth 28.5 cm long and 21 cm wide. He is riding a white horse, in martial attire, and carrying a banner in one hand.

Chinese Medicinal Herbs are Scarcer

Raw, Natural medicinal herbs are falling short of demand. The demand has
increased over 4 times in 10 years, yet crop area has dropped by 15% due
to the lack of wild seeds. Chinese Vice Minister of Health, Zhe Jing,
states they have found 11,118 herbs with medicinal effects, 3,000 of
those are on the Chinese Endangered List.

16 Year Old Girl Arrested

Young Tibetan girl, Yiwang, was arrested by the Chinese Government during their most recent crackdown on Tibetan Pro-Indepedence behavior. The young girl was circulating pamphlets and participating in a peaceful presentation in the southwestern province of Sichuan.

280 Year Old Mummy

A mummy has been unearthed in Beijing that is 280 years old. A Top Rank Military Official during the Emporer Kangxi (1622-1722). Prayer Beads and 31 other ceremonial relics were in the tomb.
Worst Drought in 50 Years

The Sichuan Province in southwest China was given relief after 3 days of rain. Many are suffering from the worst drought in 5 decades. 4.86 Million people have very little drinking water.

The Three Kingdoms

In Chinese History, The Three Kingdoms era (220-265 A.D.) is the time of
Civil Wars, Buddhism spreading into China, and Kwan Gong lives. Buddhism
was introduced in 1 A.D., but did not spread until the Han Dynasty
collapsed.
The
Wei Kingdom was the strongest of the three and captured the Shu
territory in 263 A.D.

Tibetan Monk Arrested

A Tibetan Monk was arrested in Ganzi for distributing pro-independence posters and painting 'seperatism' slogans on China government property. It was reported that Namkha is one of the 4 master chanters of the Yellow Hat Sect from the Ganzi Monastery. The monk faces 8 years of prison.

11th Panchen Lama & Family Taken

The 11th Panchen Lama, Gedun Choekyi Nyima and his family were kidnapped
from their home when the young Lama was 6 years old in May 1995 by the
Chinese Government.
The
Dalai Lama had confirmed the boy was the incarnation of the Panchen
Lama. The Chinese Government admitted to hold the boy in "protective
custody" in May 1996. He is the youngest political (equivalent of
vice-president) and religious leader in the world. The Chinese
Government elected their own Panchen Lama in November 1995. No agency
(not even the United Nations) has been able to confirm the well-being of
the young boy and his family.

China Taps Tibetan Waters

Beijing: China is preparing a controversial project
to divert water from Tibet to the parched Yellow River in the country's
west.
China states new laws gives the goverment control of the
water supplies and that water shortages may require this change. Tibet
officials state that repurcussions of their already short supply has not
been thought through.

China Shuts Down Popular Blogs on Tibet

The Chinese authorities have shutdown the blog's of Tibetan writer, Woeser (aka Oser. Ch: Wei Se). She is one of the very few Tibetan writers who publish works in chinese.The web operater and writer both state that they were served notice to shutdown after she wrote birthday wishes for the Dalai Lama and touched on other sensitive topics, such as the HIV/Aids problem in Tibet.
